Few perfume houses today dare to give tobacco notes the leading role. Especially since tobacco has fallen out of favour! But for Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, this Tabac Tabou fits perfectly into the world of Parfum d’Empire. It reconnects with one of perfume’s earliest meanings: the sacred. And with its very origin: per fumum. Through smoke.
Several centuries before Columbus arrived, almost all the Native American peoples used tobacco to purify, heal, or summon visions. Smoked ritually to nourish the gods or carry people’s prayers to them, this sacred plant played the same role in the New World as incense did in the Old: a bond, forged by fire, between earth and sky.
In Tabac Tabou, its leaves unfurl their scents of fresh hay and wild savannah in a velvety, penetrating fragrance, almost oily with its abundance of rich essences. Such is the narcissus, which evokes green sap, white flowers, leather and a mane all at once. And the sun-scorched everlasting flower, whose honeyed, liqueur-like notes blend with those of tobacco…
A fragrance for connoisseurs, Tabac Tabou is also one because of the rarity of some of its ingredients. Destined to join Parfum d’Empire’s permanent collection, it will be produced each year in limited quantities, with the vintage indicated on the label
Eau de parfum 50 ml.
